This is my favourite AYCE sushi place south of Finch. The service is quick, the staff is friendly, and the food is great.
A few highlights:
- The shrimp tempura is surprisingly delicate, crispy, and not too oily.
- The various BBQ eel rolls are good quality. (A few AYCE chains use gristly, gross eel and drown it in sauce. Not Echo.)
- The sashimi is legitimately fresh and delicious. (I love the white tuna and all of the tataki especially.)
- The octopus sushi has great texture.
AYCE sushi is never going to be the highest quality, but this is consistently tasty and in competition with mid-range a la carte places. -

Food: The AYCE menu looked small to me, but it is all to their benefit as the food is fabulous. High quality sashimi, (especially the salmon!) interesting rolls, and saucy cooked food.
Service: We had a party of 14, and so ordered in three groups. They forgot 3/4 of our order for over an hour- while the other groups were on their 2nd and 3rd orders, we were still waiting for our first. They kept telling us it was coming, but eventually we made it clear no food had arrived for more than an hour and they delivered it all at once.
When I made the reservation, I was also not informed that our group would not be able to sit together.
Accessibility: Google may tell you the restaurant is wheelchair accessible. It is NOT. There is a 2.5" "step" by the front door. If you can get past that step, the washrooms are on the same level as the restaurant. There are no automatic doors. -

5/5! I will never get sick of this place. A friend of mine showed me this place and it has truly become my favourite place to get tasty and high quality sushi in Toronto. I would say this is definitely one of the better places in Toronto to get AYCE - no lie, this place has set a high benchmark in my books for quality AYCE and I always seem to compare other places to here.
My AYCE favs from the menu:
- brown rice sushi roll (very unique, tasty, and healthy)
- garlic beef cubes (amazing... def for the garlic lovers out there)
- enoki and beef rolls (!!!)
- BC tuna sashimi (so good - all the sashimi here is actually very good and of high quality - does not look like it's been frozen)
- tamago sashimi
- shrimp skewers
- grilled eggplant
The service here is absolutely amazing. The waiters are a real friendly bunch and they bring food to your table very fast. I once witnessed the waiters be super polite to a pair of rude gentlemen who entered the restaurant 10-15 minutes before closing and put in a rush order for sushi. I always make sure to tip well in this place as the waiters truly deserve it. Def give this place a try if you want that quality AYCE. -

Maybe it was just an off-night, but my night at Echo Sushi was a bit of a mess.
We reserved a table, but it was not ready when we arrived at the appointed time. We had to wait around awkwardly and hover as other tables opened up so we could take their seats. When there are elderly parents and young children.... this is never good.
When it came to the food, they forgot two of the set meals and I had to ask several times before it was addressed. There was just general confusion. The food itself was okay when it arrived, but the chaos of the service left a bad impression as a whole. -

Came here for lunch today because we of Good Friday and were only allowed to consume fish (since all the fish and chips places were packed!).
Service was good, food was average (with little highlights and several lowlights) -- and for $19.99 (holiday price), would I return? Probably not.
